The short version
We keep what's needed to run the service: the messages you write, basic details of the account you sign in with, and some routine technical records. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with advertisers.
What we store
- Your messages. What you write, when, and related details such as who a bottle is addressed to and how it has been handled. Messages go into the Buried Treasures mod for other players to find, so treat anything you write as public.
- Your account. When you sign in, the service you use shares basic profile details with us, such as an account identifier, display name and avatar. We keep a record that your account has used the site.
- Usage records. Things like how many bottles you've sent recently, and technical logs of requests to the service. Network addresses are not stored in readable form.
Cookies
Only what's needed to sign you in and keep you signed in. Nothing is used for tracking or advertising.
Who else sees it
Whichever service you sign in with handles that sign-in under its own privacy policy. Your messages reach the mod and the players who find them. The site runs on third-party hosting and storage providers, who process data on our behalf. We don't sell any of it.
How long it is kept
Messages may stay in circulation for as long as the service runs, unless they expire or are removed. Usage records and logs are deleted automatically after a period of time. Your session ends when you sign out.
Your choices
You can remove your own messages from the site while signed in, though a bottle already in the water may already have been read. Signing out clears your session. For anything else about data stored against your account, get in touch through the mod's Thunderstore page or Discord and say which account you signed in with.
